GSM Cell Phones Are Really Fun to Use
If shopping for GSM cell phones, get only one that will really be useful to you. Yes, this sounds obvious, doesn’t it, but that’s really all you need to know when it comes to not wasting your money on something that looks good but doesn’t do much for the money. Strange enough, perhapsit is the explosion of all thee different handsets that has lead to people making rather unwise purchasing decisions: what the French call an embarass de riches. That is, giving people too many choices actually hampers their decision-making.
Researchers of consumer psychology can attest to this finding. Whether it’s GSM cell phones or anything, really, people just have a harder time — and feel the attendant anxiety — when confronted (yes, “confronted!”) by too many choices. But while that may seem strange, it actually makes a certain sense, in the final analysis. Consider that about half of humanity — those typically called “guys” — don’t like shopping. Ever wonder why? They want instant gratification. Guys usually want to “get it over with.” This is the predominant feeling even if the purchase to be made is a simple affair, no matter if it’s as innocuous as getting toiletries or running out for sundry supplies. Imagine how much more annoying it could be when it comes to technology products!
To be sure, guys generally like technological gadgetry, since guys are typically enamored of toys to begin with. They like objects they can manipulate. Yet modern technology offers a bewildering array of capabilities, feature-sets which only hard-core geeks would love spending time poring over…and most guys do not take pride in being geeks.
Yes, then there are the ladies, the female half of the human race. These are people who often love to shop, but who find technology purchases none too interesting.
And so here’s a population of folks who are not jumping with joy when it comes to buying a cell phone. No wonder, isn’t it, that marketing hype is resorted to in order to hasten the purchase? Thus, not knowing the latest from the greatest, they sometimes wind up with gear they not only don’t need, but which may actually hamper their daily mobile communications!
So when in the market for a cell phone, a little introspection of sorts is in order. Just what is it that you wish to do with a handset in the first place? Do you really need all those features? Surf the web? Are games that important? If you absolutely need data capabilities, do you also have to have WiFi or would your carrier’s cellular network be enough?
